What to Expect on your First Visit
On your first visit to Dr. Lori Kalie’s office, a chiropractor in Reading, PA, you will be welcomed by our front desk assistant when you enter our office. She will have you fill out our intake paperwork, if you have not done so yet. (You can click here to download those forms.) She will then take you to our examination room where the doctor will meet you for a confidential consultation to go over your forms and health history.
The doctor will then let you know if you are a candidate for chiropractic care. If you are, the doctor will let you know which exam procedures will be necessary. If you are not a chiropractic case, the doctor will give you other recommendations, suggestions, or refer you to another doctor. You may be referred out for x-rays if the doctor thinks they are necessary to accurately assess your problem. You will then be instructed to return to the front desk where you will make an appointment for the next day while we review all your information.
Your first visit can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 1 hour.
What to Expect on your Second Visit
On your second visit, to our Reading, PA chiropractic office, the doctor will review your examination findings with you. If you have had x-rays taken, the x-ray facility would have given you a copy of the films for you to give to us. The doctor will go over your test results and outline what recommendations he has for you regarding your specific problem. The frequency and duration of care will be explained and given to you in written form.
This is usually attended to on your second visit, which may be later the same day or the following day. This two-visit approach accomplishes several things:
- The length of your first visit will be reduced
- Gives the doctor time to review your exam and x-ray findings
- Prevents overwhelming you with too much information
So that you will feel at home in our office, our front desk assistant will give you an overview of our office policies and procedures along with our financial agreement on this visit.
What to Expect on Regular Visits
You will have a treatment plan given to you on your second visit by the doctor which would have outlined the specific frequency and duration of visits in order to reach your goals.
Depending on the phase of care you are in, you will do physical therapy modalities or exercises before seeing the doctor. The chiropractic assistant will get you started on the therapies. After that, you will see the doctor to get adjusted.
When the doctor sees you for your adjustment, you will begin by lying face down on the table so that the doctor can assess your spine for spinal subluxations and make gentle and precise adjustments to specific vertebra that are out of alignment. You can read more about spinal manipulation here.
Keeping all your appointments is crucial to your success because each adjustment builds on the previous visit.
